Originally from Jacksonville NC, Jeb also lived in Wilmington, NC for 5 years. As a young man in search of adventure, he landed on Beech Mountain, NC . He quickly fell in love with the Mountains of North Carolina, they were such a change from his coastal upbringing. He started out as a ski and snowboard tech in the children's ski and snowboard school. Little did he know that he had a natural talent for skiing and snowboarding. After the first season he was promoted to the assistant director of the ski school, in the second season to the director. As the director he received his certification as a professional skier and a professional snowboarder.......and then he met his wife, Shawn.

Shawn grew up in Ocala, FL. She also went in search of adventure, but moved further south to Orlando for a few years and then to Miami, where she attended Florida International University to receive her Bachelors in Elementary Education. She taught a combination grade level class directly after graduating and then 1st grade for 2 years. On summer break, she visited a little town in the mountains and a week later, she moved there...to Beech Mountain! From this we can see that she also fell in love with the mountains of North Carolina...it just took her a little longer to get there. Little did she know at that time that she would never teach full time in an elementary school again and she would fall deeply in love with a ski school director. She worked as a ski instructor, assistant director and then the director of a ski school on Beech Mountain over the next few years. She also received her certification as a professional ski instructor. She must have had a really great teacher!

Jeb and Shawn Brown got their real estate licenses in 2006 just two short years after their first child was born. Jeb had grown up in a family of brokers, both sets of grandparents and both parents had their licenses. Shawn became interested after listening to all of the real estate talk and then ultimately, taking a trust account class. After that class, the path was set to move forward and take the class and ultimately get their licenses, together.

Real Estate in the mountains, deals primarily in second homes and vacation rentals. Jeb and Shawn worked for Emerald Mountain for three years selling second homes for and to family and friends. In the spring of 2009, they moved to Jacksonville, NC to be close to family and to get out of the second home market. They became individual Brokers In Charge at this time.

Jeb worked with his family and ultimately got his Contractor's License. Shawn worked part time for Infant of Prague as a substitute, and as an inspector for Hartis Properties. She then worked a short time at Coldwell Banker as a property manager until they found out they were going to be parents again! Shawn primarily stayed at home with their first child, Tybie and then their 2nd, Blake. When Tybie began kindergarten and Blake was no longer a new born...a handful of their close friends all received word they were moving. They had all bought homes in the height of market and selling was not an option. Brown Properties was brought back to active status and handed over to them by family. They started that year with zero properties and ended with about 5! Each year doubling, just from word of mouth. When Brown Properties expanded to 50 properties, Jeb came over full time and it has continued to grow and grow, still from word of mouth. Brown Properties is no longer a home based business, it is located in the Commerce Center. The team now consists of two additional full time office admins, an inspector and two maintenance techs.
