Born and raised in Basalt, Sara grew up as a local in the Roaring Fork Valley. She went through the Basalt school system and graduated as class valedictorian. Sara then earned a B.S. degree in Creative Writing from Bucknell University in Pennyslvania. After college, she spent a year living abroad in Mount Maunganui and Wanaka, New Zealand before returning home to pursue a career in marketing. Prior to real estate sales, she served as the sales and marketing manager at the Roaring Fork Club in Basalt and then the marketing director at Aspen Snowmass Sotheby's International Realty until 2018.
Sara offices out of the Old Thompson Barn at River Valley Ranch in Carbondale. She focuses on residential real estate home and land sales from Old Snowmass to New Castle. She and her colleague Penney Carruth produce the Mid-Valley Market Report twice a year. It provides home sales history in Basalt, Missouri Heights, Carbondale and the Crystal Valley from 2004 to the present. Sara is known to be detailed and thorough, anticipating the needs of her clients from a hospitality perspective. Her philosophy with clients is personal, proactive and professional - as it should be!
Sara is hard of hearing - she was diagnosed with a moderate-to-severe hearing loss at age two. She has an 80% hearing loss, which means that she needs hearing aids to hear normally. After being fitted with hearing aids in both ears, she jumped right into speech therapy and was fortunate enough to continue about daily life as a normal, hearing person. She loves to share her story and learn about other people's hearing loss and hearing aids - ask her about it any time!
Like visitors and new homeowners in the Aspen area, Sara also aspires to spend as much time as possible outdoors with her daughter Ayla and dog June. They spend their weekends snowboarding/skiing, hiking, fishing, camping, rafting, paddleboarding and sitting lakeside. She recently ran her first half-marathon down the Frying Pan River in June 2022! She is also just completed MBA with a concentration in marketing in the Spring of 2023.
